Without a doubt, one of the most challenging things about being a mother is finding some time for yourself. To me being fit and healthy is a top priority – it is one (of too many) things I want to do with that pathetic amount of me time. With two wee ones, ages 3 and 1, it is difficult on a daily basis. I want to go running, they want to color and cry, respectively. I want to eat mangoes and apples and arugula and sweet potatoes, and home made bread and creamy soups; and they want to eat cheesy noodles and hot dogs. That’s it. Nothing else. How does my one-year-old know what a hot dog is? I threw in the towel on that one. I think I throw in the towel a fair amount. I’m a real person. I eat chocolate.
But one thing I haven’t given up on, is being active. I am obsessed with it. It makes me feel AWESOME. I love it and I want it. Now, honestly, some days my activity is nothing more than vacuuming. Or running up and down the stairs during nap time because Somebody A or Somebody B just won’t keep their little eyes closed (for the love of Pete children, close your eyes!). But most days, I try to make it count. And that’s what this blog is about. I want to share my ideas with every other mother on the planet – I want all of you to know that you can find the time and you can get fit, be fit and stay fit. Really. I swear.
